Funding

We help you secure funding for your project, the hard-to-find, bricks and mortar funds in addition to funds for master plans, historic resource reports, and more.

Strategic Resource Funding Package
We put together a strategic resource funding package with a prioritized approach, customized to the location and type of project. The funding that we have helped clients secure range from $5,000-$10,000 grants to large scale, community development grants like the $400,000 upper-level housing grant from HUD awarded to Xenia, Ohio, in 2016.

Don’t have time, resources, or expertise to pursue grants? We provide full-service grant writing, tailored to your needs (which we establish together in the preliminary planning phase). We can shepherd the grant application from pre-application correspondence through submission.

Just need technical data? We can provide the meat and potatoes technical content for the grant application including the budget and budget narrative, scope of work, or just strategic facts and figures to help you craft a robust, winning application.

  • Private and local foundations
  • Heritage Tourism grants
  • State Historic Preservation Office
  • Certified Local Government
  • Community Block Development Grants (CDBG)
  • City facade improvement programs
  • Capital Bill funding
  • Transportation enhancement grants

Management

We use unit pricing and allowances in our bidding process to quantify items as best we can. It sets up a framework for unforeseen conditions, which as you probably well know are not uncommon with historic buildings. So we have a framework, we do our due diligence, we bring in specialty contractors up front, and then we using allowances and unit pricing, do the best we can to craft an accurate cost while allowing for adjustments as required.

We monitor all work diligently during construction and verify that the contractors are doing what they have quoted us to do. If more repair or work is required than originally thought, we can know as soon as possible and account for the increases that might be needed.

Our Expert Testimony

The right expert witnesses can make your case. Your case deserves an architectural firm that specializes in heritage architecture. We have managed many restorations for government, Fortune 500 companies, small businesses and private citizens. Our wide latitude of experience provides the context for expert testimony that is able to relate information that is relevant, contextual and reflective of the interpretation to local ordinances and state and federal laws.

We research and collaborate with the client to undertand the context of the property, the liabilities and local laws and regulations. Our experience in architectural renovation and revitalization have proved vital in court with architectural analysis and as a subject matter expert. That's why we have spent so many hours over the past 20 years ensuring our clients have the right expert team -- whether one expert or many, whether early-stage guidance or expert reports, analysis and testimony. We are available to meet in person or via online conference.
